Bill and his wife Mary have called the Regency of Morristown home since Feb. 2023. After dating for two weeks, Bill said he knew that God had handpicked Mary for him, and he proposed. 54 years later, they have two sons, David and Ben. David teaches professional golf, and Ben is a pharmacist. They have four grandchildren, Austin, Laryn, Anna, and Carter.

Bill’s career starts out at the University of Tennessee, where he received his Master’s degree in the Science of Agriculture. After graduation, Mr. Reed signed up for the Air Force and was in the service for four years, stationed in South Dakota and California. After the Air Force, Bill came back to Tennessee and took the AG extension position for UT in Sumner County. It was just a few years later he was offered the Director position in Jefferson City. He stayed in this position for 25 years, and worked for the AG Extension UT office for a total of 34 years.

After retirement, Bill and Mary started their own tour company, Reed’s Good Time Tours, and operated this company until 2015. They visited all 50 states and eight foreign countries, never going anywhere twice except for Alaska. They went to Alaska 14 times! Mr. Reed shared that you can never see the total beauty of Alaska from a cruise, you have to go inland. Bill stays busy here at Regency by gardening and keeping a weather gauge. Mr. Reed is a wealth of information and we appreciate him more than he knows!
