Hello residents, this is Mark Greene, your Activities Director. We have had a lot of fun this past December. Even though we have had to deal with being quarantined, we still had fun. We started out with Frosty’s funnel cakes and we made those up hot and fresh in our coffee cafe. We had poinsettia day, where we learned about them, and then we gave some lucky winners poinsettia plants. We had our Christmas stocking presentation and we put small treats in them every 2 to 3 days. We also had homemade peanut butter fudge, which all the residents enjoyed. We also had a Hot Chocolate Bar, that went from door to door and was such a big hit with the residents, we had to do it again. We also had Christmas Chocolate Day where we handed out Hershey candies to all the residents. Plus we had the Old Fashioned Peppermint Sticks we used to get as children. Talk about the memories we heard shared by the residents!
We had a Christmas Parade through the halls with the staff members helping out since our hometown parade was canceled. We had Home Health Agencies come and decorate our Christmas trees, and the residents voted on the one they liked best. We had Candy Cane Day and gave out candy canes to the residents with fun facts about them, and we had Christmas Lollipop Day. Christmas candies are more progressed with the way they make suckers look compared to olden days gone by. We had Christmas carols through the halls on the overhead daily to put us in the mood for the holiday. We also shopped for our residents for what they wanted to buy at Walmart every week. Some bought little treats to give away to their families, and friends that they have made here at Regency. All in all, we have had a great time with our conversations and laughter during the holiday season.
